Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd recently had the opportunity to showcase the development of the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) project to a delegation from the Perak state government.
Leading the delegation was The Honourable Loh Sze Yee, Perak Executive Council (EXCO) Member for Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development.
The delegation was briefed on Sarawak Metro’s implementation of the KUTS project during their courtesy visit to Minister for Transport, Sarawak, The Honourable Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, at the latter’s office.
During the courtesy visit, the delegation expressed its interest in learning more about the initiative to decarbonise public transport in Sarawak, especially through the KUTS project.
The delegation, which also included members of Invest Perak, also had the opportunity to visit the Kuching ART Assembly Facility (KAAF) at Demak Laut.
While at KAAF, the delegation had the opportunity to ride on the prototype unit of the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) vehicle.
During the ride, the vistors were briefed on Sarawak Metro’s plans to have a majority of the zero-emission hydrogen-powered ART vehicles locally assembled in Kuching.
The facility is operated by the KUTS project’s System Package 1 contractor – the joint venture company comprised of EPR Sdn Bhd, Mobilus Sdn Bhd and Global Rail Sdn Bhd.
